Funny Quotes

I may be a little biased, but I think Raegan is one of the most hilarious, witty little kids I know. The things she says has me rolling on the floor sometimes, and I just wanted to document them on here to remember them.

This conversation came after Raegan and I had been discussing how we don't run away from mommy in the parking lot or the road because of how dangerous cars can be...

Raegan: Oh no, my puppy's ball went in to the street.
Me: It's okay, I will go get it.
Raegan: Okay mom, but watch for cars first because you could get hit, and then you would be gone, and then I would be sad.

This conversation happened as we were on a walk...

Raegan: Mom, when I am a mommy, I am going to push Addison in her stroller.
Me: Well, when you are a mommy, Addison will be grown up also.
Raegan: How come I can't push Addison in her stroller?
Me: Because when you are a mommy, Addison will be big also and you will have your own babies to push in their stroller.
Raegan: Aw, how come you don't want to share your baby with me.
Me: (lots of laughing)

Sisterly Affection

How cute are they? I had them in Raegan's bed before nap time and was reading a book to them.

Then Addison started to slip a little towards Raegan's side of the bed, and started a little hair pulling, and a little arm flailing, and then Raegan started to fight back, and here are the results...

All while Mommy was taking pictures, HeHe! They have to learn to work their differences out on their own, right? =)

Disclaimer: I broke up the fight right after I finished documenting it.

Getting so big!

Addison is almost sitting up all on her own. She can sit up for about 20 seconds and then she tips over again. I give another day or two before she has it down.

Santa!

Our town of Surprise had Santa come to the Pro shop at the Stadium where the Rangers have spring training one night last week. Justin got home from work early and we decided to go and get the girls pictures taken with him. Well, that was a bad idea. We woke Raegan up from her nap and so she was already in a bad mood I (in our defense, she had already been napping for 2 1/2 hours, that is why we woke her up). Then we get to the stadium and the line was so long. We decided to stand in it because I thought surely it won't take that long for it to move. Wrong! We finally got to sit on Santa's lap 2 hours later after standing out in the cold. I got one picture where Addison was actually looking at the camera, but Raegan was not, and then one picture where Raegan was looking and Addison was not. Typical! But, they are still cute and document the occasion, so that's all that matters. If I happen to go to the mall again between now and Christmas, I may consider trying the mall Santa.

Enjoy the pics...

Oh, and did I mention that there was supposed to be this thing called a "balloon glow" there? We had no idea what it was, but when we got there, it happened to be a big hot air balloon that was yellow and sponsored by Wendy's, that they would shoot the flame up in to make it light up. Raegan HATED it. So much that she was freaking out screaming, running away, and telling us she wanted to go home. The combination of that and the bad attitude from being woken up from her nap, we were almost ready to go home, but we stuck it out. She hopped in to our friend's stroller and put the hood down so she couldn't see it, and we fed her popcorn to keep her happy.

Thanksgiving Blessings!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I know this is about 5 days late. But I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Justin's mom and sister came in town to celebrate with us. It was Addison's first Thanksgiving. We are gearing up for Christmas and I can't wait until it is here. We will be traveling to Houston to see my side of the family. This year things are a little bittersweet for us, because we know next year the holidays will be spent without Justin. It will be even sadder for him because he will not have any family, and will be living in a dorm room all by himself.

Things I am thankful for:

Justin, the love of my life and soul-mate
Crazy, sweet, strong-willed Raegan
My new bundle of joy Addison
Sawyer, even though he drives me crazy most of the time
Wonderful parents
My little sister and brother, even they are all grown-up and aren't so little anymore
My in-laws
Such a strong network of extended family
That we are financially stable in such economically hard times
That God keeps my husband safe every day that he flies
The opportunity to live near the rest of my family again next year
Fantastic friends that I can go for weeks without talking to and then sit and go over my cell phone minutes in one phone call.
My military "family"...people that will be friends and support no matter where in the world the air force sends us.

Two of my favorite blessings...

Someone was tuckered out from all of the Thanksgiving food.

And here is a picture of everyone (minus me taking the picture) from Thanksgiving weekend.

Dresses for the girls

I made some pillowcase dresses for the girls for their 6 month and 1 year pictures next week. This was my first time to sew clothes. I think they turned out pretty well. I am considering making a new one for Addison, though, because I cut the fabric for hers back in August and just estimated what I thought she would wear now, and I underestimated my chunky little monkey, so it is a little snug.

Isn't Addison's so tiny and cute?

More Peas Please...not!

This post is for you Maegan! ;)

So, as most of you know by now, I am making my own baby food this time around for Addison. I keep a few jars around the pantry to throw in the diaper bag if I'm going to be out and about during mealtime, but for the most part, we have bags and bags of "food cubes" in the freezer. Well, I just made Addison peas the other day and she liked them. Now, I don't know that she loved them, but she finished them all, so I guess that's all that matters.

Why is this earth-shattering news you might ask? Because, I HATE peas, her sister hates peas, her grandfather hates peas. You may say that "hate" is such a strong word, but that about sums up my relationship with them. In fact, it may not quite do my feelings towards the veggie justice. I only made one tray worth of peas, and unfortunately for Addison, that's probably all she will get. Even the smell of them cooking made me want to gag. I may just have to let Justin give them to her from a jar. Seriously guys, I truly can't think of a vegetable that I dislike more.

So, there is my fun little post about peas. I posted this as an inside joke, so most of you won't get it, but I tried to make it as interesting as possible, haha!

I promise I will blog about Halloween (I know, forever ago) and Raegan's party soon. I'm sure that will be more exciting than peas.

It has begun

Here is a cute picture of Addison holding on to Raegan's pink baby. Raegan got upset that Addison had her doll. The fights over toys has already begun.

Aggie Cuteness

Just wanted to share a picture of my girls all dressed up in their Aggie gear!

First Tooth

I found Addison's first tooth on Tuesday of this week. She was chewing on the swing at the park, and so I started to feel around in her mouth to see if she was close to cutting a tooth, and sure enough, there was already one through. It was pushed through enough that it must have been there for about a week. She never showed any signs of teething. She wasn't fussy, drooling, or waking up in the middle of the night. It wasn't until she was chewing on everything that I even thought to check. So, my little got her first tooth at 5 months. Raegan got her first at 6 months, and she actually cut the first 2 on the same day.

All About Addison

My sweet baby girl is 5 months now, and I feel like I should have a little post about her. Most of you have not have had the privelege to get to know or even meet her yet, so I would like to give you a little insight in to my precious baby.

Addison has been such a joy to our lives. She is such a wonderful little girl and lights up our day with everything she does. I can't say enough words about how easy she has been. Raegan was a pretty easy baby, but I was very quick to put her on a strict schedule. Addison is even easier, and she does it all herself at her own pace.

When she was an newborn, she loved sleeping in bed with me. For those of you that know how I was with Raegan, I was very anti co-sleeping. But having another child at home to tend to during the day once Addison was born, I did whatever was necessary to get a little sleep. Well, sweet girl was not fond of sleeping in her own bed right at the beginning, but she would sleep up to 5 hours straight next to me in bed. It was just survival, and so I let her. Then, we just approached each transition one at a time. Soon, I could put her in her bed early in the night, and then when she would get up to eat, she would usually stay in bed with me until morning. Next came sleeping in her bed almost all night. By 7 weeks old, I had to move her out of our room in to her own bed. I probably would have done this sooner, because I don't sleep well with little ones in my room making noises all night, but I was concerned that if she woke up in the middle of the night crying, she would wake Raegan up, since their rooms were across the hall from each other. I finally had to just rip the band-aid off, and it has never even been an issue. Then once she was sleeping in her own bed at night, we gradually worked up to naptime as well. By 10 weeks of age, Addison was sleeping all the way through the night from about 6 at night until 8 in the morning, without waking up to eat. I cannot believe how blessed I am to have such a wonderful sleeper. She also takes 2 naps during the day, about an hour and a half to two hours each. Can we say fantastic?

Addison is such an easy going baby. She is so laid back. She almost never cries. We can go days without ever hearing her cry. She loves to just sit back and observe her surroundings. She is a big momma's girl. From birth she loved to nurse, and very early on she decided she had no desire to take a bottle. That makes things a little difficult to leave her at home with daddy so that mommy can run errands, but I never realized how much I would enjoy nursing her. Raegan refused to nurse, and would only take a bottle, so I have seen the other side of it, and how freeing it is to be able to let other people feed your baby. I had hoped to make it to 6 months of breast-feeding, and then let Addison decide how long we would continue after that. It seems as though we will definetly make the 6 month mark, and I may have to cut her off after a year, haha! One of my favorite times of the day is early morning, when Raegan is still asleep and Addison has already woken up. I will put her in bed with me and side-lie nurse her. I feel so close and connected to her that way, being cuddled up next to her. (Of course, when I say early morning, I mean like 7 am). =)

Recently we have started Addison on solid food. She started on cereal almost 2 weeks ago, and then we just introduced some veggies. This time around I am making my own baby food. I am having a lot of fun doing it. I don't feel bad about giving Raegan jarred food, because I was a very busy working mom, but I definetly feel great about being able to make my own food. So far she has had sweet potatoes and carrots, and next up will be bananas, pumpkin, and squash...yum!

Addison has been such a wonderful addition to our little family. We can not believe how fortunate we have been to have this wonderful little girl as our baby. Every day she amazes us. She is so loving and freely gives us the most precious open-mouth kisses. Just like her older sister, she could care less about rolling over. She has rolled over once, but loves sitting up. Raegan sat up on her own before she ever rolled over, and Addison is about to sit up on her own as well. She sits up very well with a little support behind her. She has only rolled over once.

She offers up smiles freely, and never cries when she wakes up. She just lays in bed and plays with her feet and talks to herself until we come get her out. What a dream. Can you ask for anything better than that? She isn't as easily amused as Raegan was. You really have to impress her, but when she does laugh, it is the most wonderful sound you will ever hear. The person that amuses her the most is her big sister. Raegan can make her crack up without even trying. It is very evident how much easier it is to amuse Raegan than Addison when we try to make Addison laugh, and Raegan is the one cracking up.

I look forward to watching our little girl grow up. As cliche' as it sounds, they really do grow up too fast, and I think it is going even faster the second time around. I feel so fortunate that Justin's job allows me to be at home to be present when it all happens. Thank you so much for entering our lives sweet Addison!

Pumpkin Patch

We took the girls to a pumpkin patch today. We tried to get some pictures of them together, but Raegan was more interested in accosting Addison and trying to smother her with kisses rather than looking at the camera. We did get a few good pictures of the girls individually, once Raegan decided to cooperate and give us a good smile rather than cheesy faces.

There was also a petting zoo and a corn maze that we all had fun at, especially Raegan.

Happy 5 years!

Yesterday was Justin and my 5 year anniversary. Seeing how we have two young children, we didn't exactly get to go out anywhere for dinner, so we made a delicious fruit and cheese plate and enjoyed some Moet and Chandon champagne on our back porch. I just love how Raegan's Fisher Price table served as our "patio table".

So, here's to 5 years together Justin! We have had two beautiful daughters, owned our first home together, lived in Texas and Arizona, and experienced countless memories together. Our next adventure will keep us apart for a year, but we will only grow stronger, as individuals, as a couple, and as a family. I will miss you so much when you are in Korea, and am sad our 6th anniversary will be spent half a world apart, but look forward to reuniting on the other side of it all. I love you so much.

Sisters

I just love this picture of the girls. They are so cute together. Raegan was watching a movie in her playroom and wanted Addison to sit in her chair with her.

Cereal, Yum!

We started Addison on cereal yesterday. Justin got to feed it to her since he hasn't been able to feed her at all since she was born. She really liked it. It will still take her a little bit to learn to swallow it well, but I will say, I think she did better on her first try than Raegan.

San Diego

This past weekend we decided to take a trip to San Diego. It is the first time we have gone anywhere since moving to Phoenix in March, except our trip home to Houston back in August. With Justin in training, he can't take any vacation time, so we really only get to go out of town on 3 day weekends. Needless to say, we pretty much have had this trip planned in our heads since moving out here.

San Diego did not disappoint. It was a much needed get away. With it being a 6 hour drive from Phoenix, it was a perfect 3 day weekend trip. We left Friday after Justin got off work. The drive was the first for Addison, and she did pretty well. It's never fun driving long distances with a baby, but since most of the trip was done after her bedtime, she slept a good part of it. However, we got to our hotel super late (esp. since our Garmin took us all over the place before getting us to our hotel in downtown.) Addison woke up and then was so exhausted that I spent over an hour trying to get her to calm down, and was finally able to go to bed myself around 1 in the morning.

On Saturday we headed out to Sea World. Raegan had never been before and could not stop talking about going to see the whales, and sharks, and dolphins. She loved the Shamu show "Believe". For those of you who have not gotten the opportunity to spend time with my little girl, she is a talker. And she loves to recount details of things...to everyone she meets. So after the show she spent all weekend talking about Shamu and how he goes up, and then comes down, and then splashes his tail and gets everyone wet. She is definetly not a summarizer (and she gets that from Justin.)

We got some really good pictures of the Shamu show.

The trainers did not get in the water with Shamu. Some friends of ours said that they didn't get in at the San Antonio show either. I guess they have completely taken it out of the show since, "the incident". Can't say I blame them.

Raegan even got a picture with Shamu in costume.

We walked around and got to see a lot of the animals.

We got Raegan a stuffed penguin at the penguin exhibit since she is in the Penguin room at school. She will be moving up next month when she turns 3, though, so I'm not sure what animal room that is.

Unfortunately, when you go to a theme park with 2 small children, you don't really get to stay as long as you would like because the little ones need naps, so we had to leave after only about 3 hours there. We didn't get to see the dolphin show, but hopefully we will get a chance to go back some day. I will have to say, I think the San Antonio Sea World is better than the San Diego one.

After we went back to the hotel for rest time, we met some friends of ours that were in town as well for dinner that night at this little hole in the wall seafood restaurant. It is called Blue Water Seafood and it was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. It was wonderful. The fish was so fresh. I am so glad we got to try it, because it is one of those places you would normally just drive past if it wasn't passed around by word-of-mouth.

On Sunday, we decided that since we did a big adventure the day before, we would just be chill and explore the town. We drove over to Coronado Island and went down to the beach. Raegan and Justin splashed in the ocean, even though it was freezing, and we took a nice stroll on the beach. The weather was just so wonderful while we were there.

We walked on down to the beach right in front of the historic Hotel del Coronado. It is such a pretty hotel. We didn't go in, but I think we will need to go back and scope out the inside next time.

Then we went to this wonderful French cafe for lunch called , Tartine. It overlooked the bay facing San Diego. Justin ordered a cappucino and I had a glass of wine. We split a Croque Monsier, a yummy cheese and fruit tray, and a Creme Brulee, although Raegan ate most of the dessert. I just loved the feel of the restaurant. We will definetly go back there next time we are in the area.

Then it was back to the hotel again for naptime. Justin went and toured the USS Midway while the girls napped. Then we got up and headed down to Seaport Village across from our hotel for some exploring and dinner. We were able to stroll down by the marina and then eat in an open air food court. Raegan and her friend Liberty rode the carousel, but we didn't get any pictures of it because it was seriously the fastest carousel I've ever seen.

Monday morning we woke up, and since we had been eating mediocre breakfasts at the Embassy Suites, we checked out of the hotel and stopped at Richard Walker's Pankcake House for breakfast. There were way too many yummy looking options. I ordered a banana crepe, and Justin ordered bacon waffles. Oh my goodness, the waffles were to die for. Yet another restuarant we will be going back to again. We seriously may just have to take a trip to San Diego again just to eat.

The trip was so much fun. San Diego has so many things to do. It is a little harder to do everything with small children, but it was so worth it. We hope to take the girls back again, and hopefully a romantic couples trip someday.
