Our little princess turned 1 this past weekend. Her real birthday was on Friday. I had a tough time with this 1-year milestone. She is growing up so fast. She's not a little baby anymore. She is so independent. I just love the little person she is turning into, though.
We traveled to Katy for Raegan's birthday party on Saturday. The party was held at my parent's house, and it was quite the spectacle. 27 people for one little girl. She sure is loved. The theme of Raegan's party was strawberries. She wore a tutu and I even made her a little green princess tiara that was supposed to resemble the crown of a strawberry. It turned out quite nicely if I do say so myself.

I also decided to make her cakes myself. I originally thought that I would have someone make the cakes for me because I knew they would be a big project, but ultimately after trying out a few bakeries I came to the conclusion that I just wasn't going to get what I wanted from a baker and to get that I would have to do it myself. I was quite impressed with myself how they turned out. We had a little issue with the buttercream icing, and it kept melting, but it still tasted really good and the cake didn't sit around long before it was scarfed up.
Our little monkey loved her cake. In fact, we decided to take the cake away from her because it was so large and she kept eating it. That didn't go over well with her. She threw such a fit. She's not used to eating a bunch of sugar or junk food, so I didn't want to go overboard with it. Are we mean parents or what?

Raegan racked up the goods at the party. She received all of the noisy toys a kid could want...a parent's dream. Her favorite's seem to be a ball popping machine, a princess wand (go figure), and a ride-on disney princess car. Knowing her, she will have all new favorites tomorrow. =)

Oh, and did I mention that she threw the hugest temper-tantrum when I took a card away from her that she was trying to tear up. Oh yes, we are definetly the parents of a toddler now....
